PLEASE LIKE ME

The high rating coming-of age series, “Please Like Me” returns in 2014 on ABC2. Written and starring the talented Josh Thomas, PLM series 2 is a comedy drama loosely based on Josh. It’s a pleasure to be working with Josh, Lisa Wang (Blacksheep Films) and the producer Todd Abbott. Directed by Matthew Saville, the 10 part series will also be screened in the US on Pivot. The music will feature an assortment of contemporary dance artists with the odd classic piece.

THE SUNNYBOY

I’ve been very fortunate to music supervise a special documentary that is close to my heart. THE SUNNYBOY is about Jeremy Oxley and his ability to have survived 30 years of living with schizophrenia; and the courage and strength he mustered to return to the stage in April last year. The documentary is told largely from Jeremy’s own perspective, offering an intimate and enlightening exploration of a much misunderstood and stigmatised condition. THE SUNNYBOY is a story of hope, a celebration of survival and the healing power of unconditional love. It truly is an amazing journey! This is not a rock & roll documentary as the subject matter is centred on Jeremy’s journey and his mental illness.

The producer, Tom Zubrycki and director, Kaye Harrison have devoted a great deal of time and energy on THE SUNNYBOY documentary. And of course, it features a great deal of classic Sunnyboys songs.

Mental illness is one of the biggest challenges facing modern Australia and it is one that continues to be poorly understood. One out of every five Australians will experience some form of mental illness each year. Three out of every ten will be seriously affected

RAKE (ALL SEASONS)

It was a delight to work with the Essential Media crew again, and it’s always fun working on a production that is as colourful as Rake that covers a wide genre of music.

RAKE is an 8-part comedy drama series that features the world of Cleaver Greene, a brilliant criminal defence lawyer who is a rake in his private life – a dissolute but loveable rogue constantly in debt and who has a penchant for matters pleasurable.

We pitched and cleared numerous songs from ‘Pleasure & Pain’ by iconic Aussie band, The Divinyls, to the childhood gem, ‘How Much Is That Doggie In The Window’. Add some works by Mozart, authentic Lebanese music and the classic songs ‘Don’t Let Me Be Misunderstood’ and ‘Yes Sir I Can Boogie’…and you know by day’s end, you’re working on something very special!

2013 AACTAs Winner of Best Lead Actor In A Televsion Drama: Richard Roxburgh for Rake 2.

I have looked after the music for this great series from season 1 to 5.
